A.J. Edwards, CFA

Managing Partner

A.J. joined CVF in 2018. Prior to joining CVF, A.J. was the Chief Investment Officer for Cornell University, managing the $7 billion endowment and overseeing a staff of 20 investment professionals. Prior to Cornell, he managed a $2.5 billion corporate pension plan in Connecticut where he got his first taste of venture capital investing way back in 2001. A.J. started his career researching and recommending public equities for institutional and HNW client portfolios at a CT-based, $4 billion investment management firm, having covered most sectors/industries, including the famous TMT sector that rose spectacularly in the late 1990’s only to come back down to earth in the early 2000’s. A.J. has invested/allocated billions of dollars throughout his 26-year career and has a knack for seeing the big picture. A.J. is a Visiting Lecturer of Management at Cornell, teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses in The Dyson School and the Johnson Graduate School of Management. A.J. has a BA in Economics and an MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut, and an MSc in Mathematics from Fairfield University. A.J. is a CFA charterholder and in his spare time, when he is not traveling about with his wife, two teenage sons and Olde English Bulldogge, he is a Trustee and member of the Investment and Audit Committees for the Sciencenter Discovery Museum in Ithaca, NY.
